Hundreds Feared Dead in Eastern Uganda Landslides |

A landslide in eastern Uganda after heavy rains killed at least 45 people and hundreds are feared missing, Uganda's Disaster Minister said on Tuesday.
The landslide engulfed an entire village in the eastern Bududa district near Mt Elgon on Monday night.
The minister for Disaster Preparedness and Refugees Tarsis Kabwegyere confirmed reports that 45 five bodies have already been recovered.
More than 350 people are feared dead and are still missing after the disaster that hit immediately after the downpour. About 45 bodies have been retrieved from the rubble while eight people have been rushed to Bududa Hospital
Kabwegyere said a government response team was on the ground with food and the Red Cross had sent doctors. Police and volunteers were also helping in the rescue.

As President Kibaki, PM Raila draw daggers
Beginning last sunday it was not all smiles anymore between the two principals of the Kenyan coalition governemnt. Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga accused the president of overstepping his powers, in an increasingly bitter row over corruption allegations. President Kibaki out of his traditional "hands off" governing style, went first and accused Raila of overstepping his mandate.

Museveni resorts to archaic laws to muzzle opposition
The Uganda government has detained two senior journalist from the Sunday Monitor on allegations of criminal libel resulting from an article published six weeks ago detailing the ruling NRM plans to militarily train its youth wing and "equip them with tacitics" during the upcoming 2011 elections.
The Sunday Monitor, editor Henry Ochieng and senior Reporter Angelo Izama are being held at Makindye waiting to be charged at the Magistrate's Court after Police at at the CIDheadquarters questioned them for several hours on Wednesday morning.

Un Chief lambasts "unconstitutional" power changes in Africa
As Libya titters about who should ascend to the powerful position and eventually become the leader of the Oil reach nation which has seen no leadership change in the last 42 years the Un secretary General Ban Ki-Moon has expressed concern about the "unconstitutional" and "Constitutional manipulation as a way to grab power.
